Salt Bin Locations
Almost 750 salt bins are located at known trouble spots for self-help by the public.
These bins are topped up regularly by Land and Environmental Services.
Useful Facto
Though the word grit is often used to describe the substance used to treat the roads, the Council do not use grit.
It is rock salt and the brownish colour often mistaken for grit is actually caused by traces of clay left in the salt.

Interesting information about the Clyde Tunnel
The Clyde Tunnel links North West Glasgow from the Anniesland/Jordanhill/Knightswood areas to South Glasgow at Ibrox/Pollok Park and The Southern General Hospital. The tunnel is 762m long passing under The River Clyde which is 123m wide at the same point. Opened in July 1963 to carry an initial 13,000 vehicles per day, it now carries 65,000.
So pay attention and don't crash. If you do break down - don't get out of your car - you will be spotted on the monitors (recorded for You Tube) and they will send a tow-truck asap - (£41.50/30min)
There are 2 tunnels, Northbound and Southbound and each has it's own seperate cycle tunnel and pedestrian walkway which are monitored by cameras in the central control room. We do not know if the person in the control room is called Homer
